Our Commitment to Transparency

We believe in a fair, open, and accountable awards process. Here's how we ensure every nomination is evaluated with integrity.

A Promise of Fairness

The Latin American Awards Australia is committed to recognising excellence within our community through a process that is fair, transparent, and free from bias. We understand that the credibility of these awards depends entirely on the integrity of our selection process.

Every decision we make is guided by our core values of fairness, inclusivity, and accountability. We have implemented robust procedures to ensure that all nominations are evaluated objectively and that our winners truly represent the best of our community.

Our Core Principles

The foundations that guide every decision we make

Blind Review Process

Jury members evaluate nominations without knowing the nominee's identity, ensuring decisions are based purely on merit and achievements.

Diverse & Independent Jury

Our jury comprises respected community members from various backgrounds, industries, and regions, ensuring balanced representation.

Standardised Evaluation Criteria

All nominations are assessed using the same weighted criteria, ensuring consistent and fair evaluation across all categories.

Conflict of Interest Policy

Strict protocols require jury members to recuse themselves from any nomination where they have a personal or professional connection.

Our Jury

Our jury members are carefully selected for their integrity, expertise, and commitment to the Latin American community. They represent a diverse cross-section of our community and bring invaluable perspectives to the evaluation process.

Each jury member commits to upholding the highest standards of fairness and confidentiality. They undergo briefing on our evaluation criteria and conflict of interest policies before participating.

  • No direct affiliation with nominees or nominating organisations
  • Demonstrated experience in community leadership or relevant fields
  • Representation across different sectors, regions, and backgrounds
  • Commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality throughout the process

Recusal Protocol

If a jury member has any personal, professional, or financial connection to a nominee, they must declare it and recuse themselves from evaluating that nomination. This ensures every evaluation is impartial.

Conflict of Interest Policy

Clear guidelines to ensure impartial decision-making

Personal Relationships

Family members, close friends, or romantic partners of nominees cannot participate in evaluating those nominations.

Professional Connections

Current or recent colleagues, business partners, or direct competitors must recuse themselves from relevant evaluations.

Financial Interests

Any direct or indirect financial relationship with a nominee or their organisation requires immediate disclosure and recusal.

Disclosure and Recusal Procedure

All jury members must declare any potential conflicts at the start of the evaluation period. When a conflict is identified mid-process, the jury member must immediately notify the Awards Committee and refrain from further evaluation of that nomination. All recusals are documented and reviewed to maintain process integrity.
